Italian fashion: it's all about art

Italian fashion has been around the world several times and has won a place in the heart of anyone since 1952 with the fourth "Italian High Fashion Show" in the Sala Bianca of Palazzo Pitti in Florence, an event that attracted journalists, buyers and VIPs fascinated by the skilful mix of craftsmanship, good taste and artistic sense that have always characterized the Made in Italy.

The quality of the fabrics, the cut, the finishes and the sense of beauty that makes every line, every shape, every color a matter of style: these are still the details that decree the Italian excellence in fashion worldwide.

Who doesn’t recognize an Armani, a Valentino, a Versace, a Prada, a Gucci, a dolce&gabbana?

These are clothes that we would all like to own in our wardrobe, suitable for every occasion and perfect for the most important ones.

Then what’s the secret to Italian style?

The craftsmanship of Italian tailors, of course. The best are based on family traditions handed down from generation to generation, entering one of these shops is an exciting experience.

Seeing a Master at work is like witnessing a kind of magic and getting a tailor-made dress is one of those pleasures of life that should be lived at least once.

The most famous tailors are in Milan, Rome, Florence, Naples and each is specialized in an item of clothing that makes them unmistakable.

From the choice of the best fabrics to the finishing of the details: every garment becomes unique and – therefore – precious.

Jackets, men’s and women’s dresses, shirts, skirts, trousers, ties, hats: wearing these creations designed and made to measure make you feel at the top of the world.

Milan, Florence, Rome: the three souls of Italian fashion

Milan

is the Italian city of fashion par excellence. Armani, Versace, Moschino, Prada have chosen Milan as their headquarters, as the National Chamber of Italian Fashion that coordinates all events related to the sector (obviously also The Fashion Week that takes place twice a year for the spring/summer and autumn/winter collections).

In the Fashion District (Via Monte Napoleone, Via Manzoni, Via della Spiga and Corso Venezia) there are shops, showrooms and jewelry stores, but do not forget that in Milan there are events that have strong international resonance (such as the Salone Internazionale della Casa, Milano Unica which is the fair dedicated to fabrics and accessories, the Salone Internazionale del Mobile and Fuorisalone for the home, furniture and design sectors) that attract thousands of visitors every year.

Florence

is the city where artisan production was born (leather goods and shoes, jewelry). The Oltrarno district – located on the left bank of the Arno River – is a mix of colors and intense scents that characterize the workshops of the masters while working on their creations.

The tradition of working metals, fabrics, leathers and glass dates back to the Middle Ages, a wisdom that is handed down from generation to generation and that has forged the Made in Italy as we know it today.

The Fondazione Firenze Artigianato Artistico promotes through exhibitions, workshops and guided tours among the workshops of the Conventino (ex-monastery of the late nineteenth century transformed into a multifunctional center), an immersive experience not to be missed.

The fashion week in Florence is called Pitti Immagine (fashion and accessories for men and children), but the Costume Gallery (inside Palazzo Pitti) is always open. Florence is also the city chosen by Gucci, Salvatore Ferragamo, Capucci to open their own museum.

Rome

and its luxury boutiques in Via Condotti and Piazza di Spagna, the staircase of Trinità dei Monti that is the spectacular setting of the most exciting fashion shows where national and international brands aspire to perform every year.

It is in the capital (in the Palazzo della Civilta Italiana at EUR) that Fendi has its headquarters, actively participating in the project dedicated to Roman fountains (first of all the Trevi Fountain that has returned to shine more beautiful than ever).

Alta Roma is the name of the fashion week that in summer and winter animates the eternal city, where tradition and vision of the future come together under the sign of beauty.

Italian taste takes surprising forms

You realize it if you live it on your skin, it doesn’t take a few days to make it yours, you have to learn to recognize it from the little things and your gaze will slowly change.

We talked about Italian fashion, but we can also talk about design and cooking, and how not to talk about Italian art.

It is the earth that gives birth to us that gives us unique, unmistakable characteristics. This applies to any area of the planet, of course.

Every nation contains and preserves traditions and knowledge that make exploration a continuous discovery and wonder.

Italy is the country that has been able, like few others, to preserve and enhance many of the regional riches that have always characterized it.

Living in a country like this means that your senses are educated to beauty and that famous “Dolce Vita” that the whole world envies us is nothing but the art of recognizing and appreciating the beauty that our country offers us every day: colors, scents, flavors, lines, shapes and atmosphere.

You become Italian a little at a time, but when the Italian spirit enters you can not do without it. That’s why it’s worth living here.
